Opioid Stewardship

With the opioid crisis on the rise, it’s never been more important for health professionals to stay up-to-date on the latest pain management methods. This online, self-paced course is designed for health professionals in Colorado who treat patients dealing with pain, including clinicians, nurses, dentists, psychologists, and pharmacists.
Participants in this course will gain the skills and knowledge needed to:
  • Follow the latest state, federal, and professional association guidelines to improve patient care
  • Apply evidence-based, comprehensive pain management practices and address opioid misuse
  • Earn Continuing Medical Education (CME), Continuing Pharmacy Education (CPE), and Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) credit*
Follow the latest guidelines and best practices for managing patients’ pain.

Preventing Prescription Drug Abuse

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), opioid overdoses claim the lives of 91 Americans every day and roughly 40% of those deaths involve prescription opioids. To address this crisis, we launched the first self-paced online course in 2012 to retrain healthcare providers on current state and federal guidelines for non-cancer chronic pain management. Our goal is to combat the growing opioid epidemic while providing the best care to patients. We partner with the Colorado Consortium for Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention to continue to train providers and prescribers — including physicians, pharmacists, veterinarians, nurses, and dentists — how to prevent opioid abuse and misuse.
